  Cunningham Wheel

The Grove City Area Historical Society, Grove City College, and the Grove City Borough teamed together to create a display for the 300 lb. Cunningham Wheel, which was discovered in excellent condition in the summer of 2009.

A gear wheel made of white oak, it measures 60" across and was used in the Cunningham Mill 200 years ago. It was found by college students in Wolf Creek after the dams were removed, causing the water levels to go down. More about the wheel and its discovery can be found in the September 2009 newsletter.

Chris Tyner of Neshannock Woods and Co. created the design for the display that was placed in Cunningham Mill Park on East Main Street. Included in the display is a plaque made by Wendell August Forge noting those who contributed to the creation of the display.

Stop by and visit this unique historical find! Cunningham Mill Park is located the corner of East Main Street and Greenwood Drive.
